ANTIGUA VOLCANIC COFFEE

Los Cuxinales is a plantation located in the south of the Antigua valley, extending itself towards the Agua volcano. Its curving slopes and lower altitude enable irrigation of the farm resulting in a very consistent coffee crop and quality. Coffee is grown between 1500 and 1800 meters.

The name Cuxinales comes from the shade tree used in this plantation, the Cuxín tree. This leguminous species attracts many birds and other insects, enhancing the biodiversity of the farm. The sandy coarse soil is lighter in color in comparison to the other farms higher on the slopes of the neighboring Acatenango volcano.
